Μία ακόμη ρύθμιση για τα ληξιπρόθεσμα χρέη, που ξεπερνούν τα 30 δισ. ευρώ, προωθεί το οικονομικό επιτελείο της κυβέρνησης. Σύμφωνα με το άρθρο 65 του νόμου, παρέχεται η δυνατότητα στους οφειλέτες του Δημοσίου μέχρι τις 29 Απριλίου να καταβάλουν εφάπαξ τα χρέη και να απαλλαχθούν σε ποσοστό 80% από τις προσαυξήσεις εκπρόθεσμης καταβολής.
Οι οφειλέτες μπορούν, εφόσον το επιθυμούν, να καταβάλουν το 50% των χρεών με έκπτωση 60% από τις προσαυξήσεις και το υπόλοιπο ποσό σε μία ακόμη δόση.
Παράλληλα, το σχέδιο νόμου προβλέπει νέα ρύθμιση για την υποβολή δηλώσεων παλαιότερων ετών. Συγκεκριμένα, υπόχρεοι φόρου εισοδήματος φυσικών και νομικών προσώπων οι οποίοι δεν έχουν υποβάλει δήλωση ή έχουν υποβάλει ανακριβή ή ελλιπή δήλωση, μπορούν μέχρι το τέλος του επόμενου μήνα από τη δημοσίευση του νόμου να υποβάλουν αρχικές ή συμπληρωματικές δηλώσεις για εισοδήματα που αποκτήθηκαν μέχρι και το οικονομικό έτος 2009, χωρίς την επιβολή πρόσθετου φόρου ή προστίμου.
Επίσης, μέχρι το τέλος του επόμενου μήνα από τη δημοσίευση του νόμου παρέχεται η δυνατότητα υποβολής δηλώσεων που αφορούν:
α) ΦΠΑ,
β) φόρο υπεραξίας από την αναπροσαρμογή της αξίας των ακινήτων,
γ) φόρο κύκλου εργασιών, φόρο ασφαλίστρων,
δ) εισφορά υπέρ ΕΛΓΑ,
ε) δηλώσεις intrastat και
στ) φόρο συγκέντρωσης κεφαλαίων και ειδικό φόρο τραπεζικών εργασιών.
Για τις δηλώσεις αυτές υπολογίζεται φόρος 10% για τις περιπτώσεις για τις οποίες η φορολογική υποχρέωση γεννήθηκε μέχρι και τις 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2008 και 3% για τις περιπτώσεις που η υποχρέωση γεννήθηκε από 1ης Ιανουαρίου 2009 και μέχρι τη δημοσίευση του νόμου.
Ο φόρος θα καταβληθεί σε 4 ίσες μηνιαίες δόσεις, ενώ το ποσό της κάθε δόσης δεν μπορεί να είναι μικρότερο των 300 ευρώ.

Ελευθέρωσαν τη Sammy
Καρχαρίας που αποτελούσε αξιοθέατο ξενοδοχείου στο Ντουμπάι επέστρεψε στο φυσικό του περιβάλλον όπως ανακοίνωσε το resort. Η Sammy της οποίας το είδος είναι υπό εξαφάνιση βρισκόταν σε ενυδρείο στο λόμπι του ξενοδοχείου απο το Σεπτέμβριο του 2008. «Το θηλυκό των 4,2 μέτρων επέστρεψε στα νερά του Κόλπου», αναφέρει σε ανακοίνωση του το ξενοδοχείο, στο οποίο πληρώνει κανείς 7.500 δολάρια για μια βραδιά σε πολυτελή σουίτα.
Φιλοζωικές οργανώσεις είχαν ξεκινήσει καμπάνια για την απελευθέρωση της Sammy, ενώ το group στο Facebook με το όνομα “Free Sammy” είχε περισσότερα απο 26.000 μέλη.

Πρόταση για ανακατασκευή του Τεμένος στη Μέκκα
Σκληροπυρηνικός Σαουδάραβας κληρικός ζητά την κατεδάφιση του Ιερού Τεμένους στη Μέκκα και την ανακατασκευή του με τέτοιο τρόπο που να διασφαλίζεται ο διαχωρισμός μεταξύ ανδρών και γυναικών.

Debit cards have different protections and uses. Sometimes they're not the best choice.
Sometimes reaching for your wallet is like a multiple choice test: How do you really want to pay?

While credit cards and debit cards may look almost identical, not all plastic is the same.
"It's important that consumers understand the difference between a debit card and a credit card," says John Breyault, director of the Fraud Center for the National Consumers League, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group. "There's a difference in how the transactions are processed and the protections offered to consumers when they use them."
While debit cards and credit cards each have advantages, each is also better suited to certain situations. And since a debit card is a direct line to your bank account, there are places where it can be wise to avoid handing it over -- if for no other reason than complete peace of mind.
Here are 10 places and situations where it can pay to leave that debit card in your wallet:
1. Online
"You don't use a debit card online," says Susan Tiffany, director of consumer periodicals for the Credit Union National Association. Since the debit card links directly to a checking account, "you have potential vulnerability there," she says.
Her reasoning: If you have problems with a purchase or the card number gets hijacked, a debit card is "vulnerable because it happens to be linked to an account," says Linda Foley, founder of the Identity Theft Resource Center. She also includes phone orders in this category.
The Federal Reserve's Regulation E (commonly dubbed Reg E), covers debit card transfers. It sets a consumer's liability for fraudulent purchases at $50, provided they notify the bank within two days of discovering that their card or card number has been stolen.
Most banks have additional voluntary policies that set their own customers' liability with debit cards at $0, says Nessa Feddis, vice president and senior counsel for the American Bankers Association.
But the protections don't relieve consumers of hassle: The prospect of trying to get money put back into their bank account, and the problems that a lower-than-expected balance can cause in terms of fees and refused checks or payments, make some online shoppers reach first for credit cards.
2. Big-Ticket Items
With a big ticket item, a credit card is safer, says Chi Chi Wu, staff attorney with the National Consumer Law Center. A credit card offers dispute rights if something goes wrong with the merchandise or the purchase, she says.
"With a debit card, you have fewer protections," she says.
In addition, some cards will also offer extended warrantees. And in some situations, such as buying electronics or renting a car, some credit cards also offer additional property insurance to cover the item.
Two caveats, says Wu. Don't carry a balance. Otherwise, you also risk paying some high-ticket interest. And "avoid store cards with deferred interest," Wu advises.
3. Deposit Required
When Peter Garuccio recently rented some home improvement equipment at a big-box store, it required a sizable deposit. "This is where you want to use a credit card instead of a debit," says Garuccio, spokesman for the national trade group American Bankers Association.
That way, the store has its security deposit, and you still have access to all of the money in your bank account. With any luck, you'll never actually have to part with a dollar.
4. Restaurants
"To me, it's dangerous," says Gary Foreman, editor of the frugality minded Web site The Dollar Stretcher. "You have so many people around."
Foreman bases his conclusions on what he hears from readers. "Anecdotally, the cases that I'm hearing of credit or debit information being stolen, as often as not, it's in a restaurant," he says.
The danger: Restaurants are one of the few places where you have to let cards leave your sight when you use them. But others think that avoiding such situations is not workable.
The "conventional advice of 'don't let the card out of your sight' -- that's just not practical," says Tiffany.
The other problem with using a debit card at restaurants: Some establishments will approve the card for more than your purchase amount because, presumably, you intend to leave a tip. So the amount of money frozen for the transaction could be quite a bit more than the amount of your tab. And it could be a few days before you get the cash back in your account.
5. You're a New Customer
Online or in the real world, if you're a first-time customer in a store, skip the debit card the first couple of times you buy, says Breyault.
That way, you get a feel for how the business is run, how you're treated and the quality of the merchandise before you hand over a card that links to your checking account.
6. Buy Now, Take Delivery Later
Buying now but taking delivery days or weeks from now? A credit card offers dispute rights that a debit card typically does not.
"It may be an outfit you're familiar with and trust, but something might go wrong," says Breyault, "and you need protection."
But be aware that some cards will limit the protection to a specific time period, says Feddis. So settle any problems as soon as possible.
7. Recurring Payments
We've all heard the urban legend about the gym that won't stop billing an ex-member's credit card. Now imagine the charges aren't going onto your card, but instead coming right out of your bank account.
Another reason not to use the debit card for recurring charges: your own memory and math skills. Forget to deduct that automatic bill payment from your checkbook one month, and you could either face fees or embarrassment (depending on whether you've opted to allow overdrafting or not). So if you don't keep a cash buffer in your account, "to protect yourself from over-limit fees, you may want to think about using a credit card" for recurring payments, says Breyault.
8. Future Travel
Book your travel with a check card, and "they debit it immediately," says Foley. So if you're buying travel that you won't use for six months or making a reservation for a few weeks from now, you'll be out the money immediately.
Another factor that bothers Foley: Hotels aren't immune to hackers and data breaches, and several name-brand establishments have suffered the problem recently. Do you want your debit card information "to sit in a system for four months, waiting for you to arrive?" she asks. "I would not."
9. Gas Stations and Hotels
This one depends on the individual business. Some gas stations and hotels will place holds to cover customers who may leave without settling the entire bill. That means that even though you only bought $10 in gas, you could have a temporary bank hold for $50 to $100, says Tiffany.
Ditto hotels, where there are sometimes holds or deposits in the hundreds to make sure you don't run up a long distance bill, empty the mini bar or trash the room. The practice is almost unnoticeable if you're using credit, but can be problematic if you're using a debit card and have just enough in the account to cover what you need.
At hotels, ask about deposits and holds before you present your card, says Feddis. At the pump, select the pin-number option, she says, which should debit only the amount you've actually spent.
10. Checkouts or ATMs That Look 'Off'
Criminals are getting better with skimmers and planting them in places you'd never suspect -- like ATM machines on bank property, says Foley.
So take a good look at the machine or card reader the next time you use an ATM or self-check lane, she advises. Does the machine fit together well or does something look off, different or like it doesn't quite belong? Says Foley, "Make sure it doesn't look like it's been tampered with."

Ανακάλυψαν άγαλμα του Αμενχοτέπ κοντά στο Λούξορ
Αιγύπτιοι αρχαιολόγοι εντόπισαν δύο αγάλματα απο κόκκινο γρανίτη που απεικονίζουν τον παππού του Τουταγχαμών, Αμενχοτέπ Γ΄, ο οποίος βασίλευσε πριν απο περίπου 3.500 χρόνια.
Το δεύτερο άγαλμα αναπαριστά τη Αιγυπτιακή θεότητα της σοφίας, Θωθ, όπως είπε ο Zahi Hawass. Το άγαλμα έχει ύψος 4 μέτρα.
Τα δύο αγάλματα βρέθηκαν στον νεκρικό ναό του Αμενχοτέπ Γ’ στην περιοχή Kom el Hetan, στη δυτική πλευρά του Λούξορ και υπολογίζεται οτι έχουν ηλικία μεγαλύτερη των 3.000 ετών.
Στις 28 Φεβρουαρίου αρχαιολόγοι ανακάλυψαν ένα μεγάλο κεφάλι του Αμενχοτέπ φτιαγμένο απο κόκκινο γρανίτη στον ίδιο ναό. Το κεφάλι που έχει ύψος ανθρώπου είναι το πιο καλοδιατηρημένο γλυπτό που απεικονίζει τον Αμενχοτέπ.
Τον ίδιο μήνα, τα τεστ DNA σε μια σειρά απο μούμιες έδειξαν οτι ο Τουταγχαμών – ο έφηβος βασιλιας – είναι γόνος του γάμου του Ακενατίν με την αδελφή του.

Το αεροδρόμιο του Ντουμπάι είναι ένα από τα λίγα αεροδρόμια που θα ανακοινώσει κέρδη για το 2009. Μεταξύ των 20 καλύτερων αεροδρομίων του κόσμου, μόνο 4 είχαν τον προηγούμενο χρόνο κέρδη σύμφωνα με το Διεθνές Συμβούλιο Αεροδρομίων (ACI).
Τα άλλα αεροδρόμια που θα αναφέρουν κέρδη είναι αυτά του Πεκίνου, της Μπανγκοκ και του Σαν Φρανσίσκο.
Το αεροδρόμιο του Πεκίνου ήταν το τρίτο πιο πολυσύχναστο καθώς η επιβατική κίνηση αυξήθηκε κατά 17% φτάνοντας τα 65.3 εκατομμύρια επιβάτες.

Τα αραβικά αεροδρόμια της Sharjah, της Βηρυτού και του Κουβέιτ βρίσκονται ανάμεσα στα 100 καλύτερα και είναι τα μοναδικά που δίνουν αύξηση. Στο αεροδρόμιο του Ντουμπάι η αύξηση ήταν 9,6%.

Οι πρωτοι τέσσερις πυρηνικοί αντιδραστήρες των ΗΑΕ θα κατασκευαστούν όλοι σε μια περιοχή όπως είπε εκπρόσωπος της Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) προσθέτοντας οτι το επιλεγμένο σημείο θα ανακοινωθεί σύντομα.
«Εξετάζουμ ένα αριθμό απο πιθανά σημεία αλλά η πρώτη «ομάδα» αντιδραστήρων θα βρίσκεται σε μια περιοχή», είπε χαρακτηριστικά ο Fahd Al Qah’tani στην Gulf News στο περιθώριο του Συνεδρίου της Διεθνούς Ένωσης Ατομικής Ενέργειας.
Πηγές της ENEC αναφέρουν οτι το μέρος στο οποίο θα γίνει η κατασκευή θα είναι κοντά σε θάλασσα, ενώ ο Mohammad Al Hammadi, διευθυντης της ENEC είχε πει πως υπάρχουν 10 υποψήφιες περιοχές.

Sultan Ahmed al Jaber, ξεκαθάρισε στους Έλληνες επιχειρηματίες τις προθέσεις της χώρας του για συνεργασία με την Ελλάδα.
Ο κ al Jaber τόνισε οτι το εμιράτο του Άμπου Ντάμπι μεταμορφώνει την οικονομία του στρεφόμενο προς τις ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας, τα ναυπηγεία, τα λιμάνια και τον τομέα των logistics.
Ο ίδιος εξήρε τη μακρόχρονη συνεργασία μεταξύ ΗΑΕ και Ελλάδας και μετέφερε τους προσωπικούς χαιρετισμούς του πρίγκηπα Al Nahyan. «Οι σχέσει μας, δυναμώνουν μέρα με τη μέρα», είπε ο Εμιρατινός αξιωματούχος και τόνισε πως «το Άμπου Ντάμπι επιθυμεί μια αμοιβαία επωφελή συνεργασία.»

Εντοπίστηκε Αραβικό παλάτι στο βόρειο Ισραήλ
Ερείπια που παλιότερα θεωρούνται απομεινάρια παλιάς συναγωγής, στο βόρειο Ισραήλ, αποδείχθηκε οτι ανήκουν σε παλάτι των Ουμαγιάντ, ο οποίος ξεκίνησε και την κατασκευή του Θόλου του Βράχου, όπως ανακοίνωσαν αρχαιολογοι.
Το σημείο βρίσκεται στις όχθες της Λίμνης της Γαλιλαίας και φαίνεται πως πρόκειται για το παλάτι al Sinnabra, το οποίο αναφέρουν στα βιβλία τους Άραβες ιστορικοί χωρίς όμως να δίνουν πολλά στοιχεία για την τοποθεσία του, σύμφωνα με τη Σχολή Αρχαιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου του Τελ Αβίβ, η οποία διενεργεί τις ανασκαφές.
Αρχαιολόγοι ξεκίνησαν τις ανασκαφές τη δεκαετία του '50 και θεώρησαν πως τα ευρήματα ανήκαν σε αρχαία συναγωγή, μια θεωρία την οποία έθεσε υπό εξέταση το 2002 ειδικός από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Σικάγο, ο οποίος ανέφερε τότε πως τα ευρήματα πρέπει να ανήκουν στο παλάτι των Ουμαγιάντ κάτι που τελικά επιβεβαιώθηκε.

6 Signs you're in a healthy relationship
Not long ago, I published an article about six qualities to admire in others, and the response was extraordinary. I prefaced the article by saying that the six I mentioned were by far not an exhaustive list, but included those traits that seemed especially hard to find. In reading all of the comments, however, I was inspired to write a follow-up list that covers some of the other qualities that I, as well as others, believe to be important when looking for friendships and relationships with others.
Our relationships are vital to our mental well-being. However, toxic relationships can really do a number on our happiness and outlook on life. As a result, it is important to look for individuals who possess qualities that allow for healthy relationships. Although, once again, not an exhaustive list, the qualities listed below are those that should be at the very heart of a healthy relationship. And, just as you would expect your friend, family member or loved one to display these qualities, it is just as important to reciprocate.
Loyalty: Whether it's in friendships or in family, loyalty is truly important to maintain a healthy relationship. All of us are guilty, at one time or another, of making mistakes, having ups and downs, and even displaying some behavior that we may not always be proud of. When we find friends or loved ones who can forgive us and stand by us…even during our worst moments…we should be especially grateful. That said, loyalty should never be taken for granted and we should always be deeply appreciative when it comes our way.
Respect: I once knew an individual who was very opinionated about political topics. She would talk down to people who disagreed with her and would be very disrespectful. Not only did she make people feel stomped on, but she left many disinterested in friendship. Treating others with kindness and the respect they deserve is important in gaining the respect that WE desire. It never feels good to be taken for granted, judged or used and it doesn’t feel good to be talked down to or treated rudely or inappropriately. There will be times that we may not always have full agreement with our friends or loved ones, but respecting them along the way is a must.
Unconditionally There: There is nothing worse than having someone always resurface in your life when they are in need, are looking for something or need a favor. In a culture of “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours,” it is somewhat rare to find those “who just scratch your back,” period. Finding individuals who want you in their lives just because…and not because they want something in return is refreshing and worth holding on to. Those who are generous of heart are to be treasured!
Trustworthy: I once worked with a woman who, within my first week on the job, felt the need to tell me all of the intimate details of the various extra-marital affairs that had occurred with the management of the firm. She was supposedly friends with these people and I have no doubt, was told this information in the most strictest of confidences. How she felt it was appropriate to divulge this information to a new-hire like me, I still have no idea. But, it was her nature to gossip about everyone and everything. If you share something in confidence, you should be able to trust that the information will remain that way.
A Genuine Sounding Board: Taking a genuine interest in what others have to say and really listening to someone is important in developing solid relationships. Letting go of the “me, me, me” and focusing on the other person not only makes the other person feel valued and appreciated, but they feel that they can really talk to someone who cares. Those who take the time to really listen to our thoughts and feelings, and then help us work through difficult times and situations, share our lives at a much deeper level than those who don’t. These are individuals worth hanging on to.
Dependability: I had a friend who frequently would RSVP to small gatherings and then would never show. They never explained…never brought it up…and never apologized. Although this example is somewhat trivial, it still makes the point. Obviously there are times when things come up that prevent individuals from following through on what they promise, but if a friend, co-worker or family member perpetually drops the ball, they may be sending you a message. If a friend says they are going to do something or be somewhere, you should be able to count on them. And, in reciprocation, they you.
